The author is an “all-rounder” senior pathologist who studied, worked and taught on 4 continents. He holds numerous qualifications from the countries he worked in as pathologist, educator, researcher, administrator and mentor.
He was Honorary (Conjoint, Adjunct, Visiting) Professor at several Australian Universities including the University of Newcastle (NSW), the University of New South Wales, the Notre Dame University (NSW), the James Cook University (Queensland), the Charles Darwin University (Darwin, NT) and the Flinders University (Darwin, NT).
He is Fellow of numerous scientific institutions including the Royal College of the Pathologist of Great Britain, the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, the International Academy of Cytology, the European Board of Pathology, the College of American Pathologists and the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
His qualifications include, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) from the University of Baghdad, Iraq, Master of Science in Pathology (MSc) from the University of Baghdad, Iraq, Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Great Britain (FRCPath), Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA), Fellowship of the International Academy of Cytology (FIAC), Diploma in Cytopathology from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, Founding Fellow of the Faculty of Science of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FFS), Fellowship of the College of American Pathologists FCAP, Fellowship of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (FASCP) and Fellowship of the European Board of Pathology (FEBP). He has over 100 publications in peer reviewed journals and am the first author of most of them and has presented in numerous regional, national and international conferences.
His peers call me “the Pathologist who likes the bit on the slide” because of my passion and enthusiasm for pathology. He is equally enthusiastic about medical education and consider teaching a duty. He has set up pathology curricula at several problem-based medical courses and taught pathology in conventional and problem-based medical systems.
He believes Medicine evolved from Pathology almost 2500 years ago and considers Pathology as the Mother and the Backbone of Medicine and that is why he want everyone to see “Medicine through the glass slide”. He has a huge personal collection of pathology images and is happy to share my knowledge and resources with anyone who is willing to explore the wonderful world of medicine through pathology.
